Super Quick and Easy Gift Ideas

Hey Loves! F & J here!
Christmas is this Friday! How is that even possible? We are not even in the Christmas spirit yet and haven't gotten a chance to sit down and watch our favorite holiday movies like ELF, and How the Grinch Stole Christmas.

We work as nannies as some of you may know and have lots of little kids and people in our lives that we need to figure out gifts for. We have been working so much that we needed to think of some quick and easy ideas that are cute and thoughtful and don't break the bank. So we have put together a list of our favorite go-to items that we are giving out this year.

No Sew Blankets

These are probably the most time consuming and expensive, however we found that fleece always seems to be on good sale and it gives a big gift that everyone seems to love. Its pretty simple all you need is two pieces of fleece, about two yards of each. Then you lie them on top of each other. Then cut out a 1.5 inch x 1.5 inch square on each corner, next make about  1.5 inch slits around the whole blanket, and tie them together. It's super easy we promise. These are pretty cool because you can customize them to what each person likes, which allows it to be a good gift for any age.

Cookies

These are pretty simple, but just about everyone loves to receive and eat cookies. Homemade ones are always the most thoughtful, but if you are pressed on time, or not a master chef, packaged ones do the trick. It's super easy to just pop them in the oven. It's nice if you serve them on a cheap holiday plate that the person can keep, and tie it up with a ribbon, It seems more thoughtful and sweet.

Candy Filled Ornaments

It's super easy to get giant clear glass ornaments at your local craft store and they are so cheap. We wash ours out to be safe and then let them dry (super important) then fill with your favorite small candy. Just make sure it will fit through the top.

Homemade Scrubs

Take equal parts of sugar and coconut oil, and mix them in a big bowl, then add 10 drops of your favorite scented oil (we used peppermint oil and vanilla), then put in a mason jar and garnish with a ribbon, for a quick and adorable gift.

Hot Cocoa Kit

This one is pretty simple. We took our favorite peppermint hot cocoa mix put in it in a mason jar. Then made chocolate stir spoons by dipping plastic spoons in melted chocolate, topping them with crushed candy canes, and setting them on wax paper to harden. We threw them into a nice basket with some candy canes and made an adorable set.

We added cute little ornaments on the top of all our presents to look more personal, and add a little something extra. We are guilty of hitting the dollar store and picking up little things to add as well, it makes the gifts look bigger without hurting our wallets.

Just remember that Christmas is the time we give, but its not about the gift it is about showing your appreciation for the ones you love. Sorry about the lack of photos, because they are so quick and easy we forgot to snap some pictures before we gifted them all!

Hello December

It's the most wonderful time of the year! How did it come so fast, because we are officially in the last month of 2015! We are in shock just typing it! 23 days until Christmas and only a few more until the New Year! We have a lot of holiday shopping to do, and a ton of wrapping! Christmas songs are blasting everywhere and we have spent many nights curled by the fire trying to stay warm. We don't even have too many decorations up. But F made her wreath last night, you can see a picture of it above!

We aren't quite feeling the holidays as much even though we are trying. We have noticed that we lose a bit of Christmas magic each year we get older. Its very disappointing and sad and want to find a way to change that! If you have a way that you keep the holiday spirit alive, such as traditions or movies, let us know. We don't want to become Grinches!

Happy Thanksgiving

Hey Loves! F & J here!
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone whether or not you celebrate it. It's just a good day to be grateful and give thanks for all the good things in our lives.

There are a lot of things we are grateful for and family and friends top the list.

After today will be the official start of the Christmas season though we have been counting down for much longer. We hope that time slows down, at least a little bit, so we can enjoy it.

Enjoy the day with your loved ones!

Keep Hope

Hey Loves! F & J here!
There has been a lot of sad news lately about all the crazy things happening. Our hearts are breaking for everyone who is hurting in anyway. We know we are so blessed to be living the lives we are and we don't ever take it for granted.

With that being said we wanted to post a lighthearted blog to provide a bit of light in this dark time.

Stay strong and brave, and know you are loved.

Hello November

Hey Loves! F & J here!
How is it already November! We literally cannot keep track of time for the life of us. On that note we hope you all had a nice and spooky Halloween. We did! F's little sister went as little red riding hood, made by yours truly. She ended up getting so much candy should could feed a small village. We ended the night watching our favorite Halloween classic, Hocus Pocus. We call it a success.

Now that it's November the countdown is on. Holiday season has begun and we are already counting down. (There are 22 days until Thanksgiving, and 51 days until Christmas, but who's counting!). Time to go shopping! And can you believe its already red cup season at Starbucks!

Earlier last month we made bite size caramel apple pops, but forgot to post. It wasn't a complete success, the caramel melted off before we got the chance to try them.  We want to try remaking them because they are definitely cute, no doubt but we first need to perfect the recipe. We do consider it a bit of a fail, but still wanted to share.

We hope to keep posting, talk to you guys soon.

Love,

F & J

Pumpkin Party

Hey Loves! F & J here!
It's that time of year again! Halloween! Every year, for the past three years, we have painted a pumpkin in honor of the holiday. We have stuck with Disney pairs, and continued that tradition.
This year we chose characters from one of the most adorable Disney movies ever made! Rapunzel and her chameleon friend Pascal, from the movie Tangled. J painted Pascal and F painted Rapunzel, but she chose to stick with just the dress since faces are not her expertise.

See our last few pumpkins below from the past two years!

We hope you like them, and we hope to do this every year.

It's Friday

Hey Loves! F & J here!
Just in case you were unaware, Its FRIDAY or as we like to call it Fri-Yay! We work very early jobs that call for early alarms and one of the best things about weekends is not setting an alarm. We don't have many special plans for this weekend but we are looking forward to sleeping in and relaxing! We hope your weekend goes fabulously.

Hello Autumn

Hey Loves!  F & J here!

The summer weather has held out this year, but within a day you could tell that the seasons have changed. The air is now crisp and cold and the sun is down by eight and the leaves are starting to change. We know that the first official day of Autumn is not until tomorrow for us, but we are so excited, fall is the best! We will miss summer for sure but we are too excited for what this season brings. Including all thing pumpkin...DUH!

We have been browsing Pinterest and are so inspired by all the fall colors and treats, and while we will probably do a max of one (not kidding) we definitely want to try them all! The one thing that we are sure to post is our annual Pumpkin Paintings where we pick a Disney pair and paint them on little pumpkins.

That said, come at us Fall!

Beach Please

Hey loves! F & J here!
As some of you might know, in our hearts, we are total beach bums! There's always some Cali running through our veins!

The closest we can get to Cali up here in Seattle is Alki beach, and we've been finding ourselves here an awful lot these days. A trip to Alki is not complete without a trip to our favorite little surf shop, Coastal, and a walk on the beach.

We have yet to ever walk out of the surf shop without buying something! This is not an exaggeration! We left with plenty of Pura Vida Bracelets and F got a pair of totally adorable flip-flops for her little sister. We can't wait to see the look on her face when she gets them!

If you live in Seattle or nearby you probably know parking is a nightmare here. There have been days we've literally parked over a mile from the start of the beach, but we don't mind the walk at all because the view is amazing. At certain parts you have a crystal clear view of the Seattle skyline including, of course, the Space Needle and Seattle Center.

We also stopped by Tully's at the end of the beach for a pick-me-up drink. We used to have some Tully's nearby our houses but they've shut down so it was quite a treat. We got Italian sodas, which by the way are absolutely delicious! F got coconut (clearly feeling the summer vibe) and J got strawberry.

We ended the day going on a nice long walk at another water front, a little closer to home. We watched the sun go down and the sky was so beautiful. Nights like these make us love Seattle a little more.

Easy as Pie

Hey Loves F & J here!
Tonight we got a bit creative in the kitchen. We love to cook but sometimes it is a lot of work. So we like to find ways to keep cooking even when we are wiped out and would rather pick up take out. We know it is much healthier to build your own meals and they usually end up tasting better. This is a simple recipe we created tonight and it was so good we have to share.
The cool thing about this recipe is that you can use whatever you want, but this is how we did ours. We got mini naans (Indian bread) from Costco but you can find them at most grocery stores. and used it as our canvas for our pizza.First thing we did was drizzle olive oil on the naan on a baking pan so it wouldn't be too dry. Then we sauteed onions and chopped up fresh basil and mushrooms and put it on top of the naan. We topped it off with some freshly grated sharp white cheddar, our favorite! Salt and pepper to taste!
We put it in the oven at 225 degrees Fahrenheit for 10 minutes to warm the ingredients up. Then we upped the temperature to 375 degrees to crisp it up. And Voila! Easy as pie!

It may not be the prettiest meal you have ever seen but it was definitely delicious and super easy. We will totally have this again!

What is your favorite easy dish?

P-I-N-E-A-P-P-L-E

Hey Loves! F & J here!
August is right around the corner which means we are in the heart of summer. There is nothing like refreshing treats to brighten up the summer nights. We know that summer is a time that reminds us all that we need to be health conscience as well. So we have 2 recipes that we have tried and LOVED and had to share!

First is a Pineapple Mango Sorbet. It was super easy to make and our ingredients made an awfully cute Insta picture. (GO CHECK IT OUT AND LIKE IT!) We mean it when we say it was easy. Prep took 10 minutes tops. All you need is a pineapple, a mango, a lime and a little bit of sugar. Make sure that your fruit is super ripe so you don't have to use too much sugar.
We sliced the pineapple in half and scooped out the middle. Sticking the pineapple halves in the freezer, for a cute bowl. We then cut up the mango, squeezed half a lime and added about 2 TBSP of sugar and blended them all together in the blender until they were smooth. We then poured it into the pineapple halves and stuck them back in the freezer until they were frozen solid. We checked ours in 4 hours and they were solid.
We also made a Blueberry Crumble. We found a fairly healthy recipe on pinterest and it gets our stamp of approval. Check it out here! We really really liked it and would definitely make it again to impress our friends.

Do you have any summer treats that you love?! Comment below and let us know! We may try them out!

Up All Night

Hey Loves! F and J here!
So, you may have heard of a little band called One Direction. We hear they're pretty popular these days. Well they happened to come to Seattle and we HAD to go and we may or may not have somehow found ourselves at the Vancouver Canada show too. In our defense it was a 2 hour drive and who doesn't need an excuse to leave the country.

First, SEATTLE! WOOT! WOOT! We are extremely proud Seattlites and happy to see them at Century Link Field where our very own Seahawks play! GO HAWKS! Outside the stadium local radio stations were pumping up the crowd and upgrading tons of tickets. Icona Pop opened for the boys. They did a fabulous job. The stadium was packed full of people singing along and dancing getting ready for the main show. The vibes were good all around! Once the boys went on stage the crowd got hysterical! We aren't typical fan girls, don't get us wrong we love the boys and their music, but we don't feel the need to scream and cry. To us they are just normal people who are extremely talented and lucky enough to do this for a living. You could tell they were exhausted but they put on a good show. We really enjoyed watching them on stage. They are so comfortable and totally belong there. It was an unforgettable experience!

Round 2, Vancouver. They were definitely more relaxed and full of good spirits it was almost like different people up on stage, more like the boys we know they are. We had better seats at this show which gave us a new view and we can say for certain that no matter where you were sitting everyone had an amazing night. We laughed with them, Sang with them and danced our hearts out all night. Not gonna lie, we would do it all over again in a heart beat! We wouldn't be surprised if we somehow found ourselves at another show on this tour!

If you ever get the opportunity to go to one of their shows don't pass it up. It will be worth it every time. Plus, even if for some crazy un-explainable reason you don't like their music they're definitely easy on the eyes. Like have you seen Liam and Harry? Just saying!

That's all for now. If we don't stop here we will just keep going all day!

USA is BAE

Hey Loves! F & J here!
Yesterday was one of our favorite holidays of the year! The Fourth of July, also known as America's Independence Day. We have so many traditions that keep us busy throughout the day, that include being the parade, a GIANT BBQ party, and of course a firework show to finish the perfect night. Time has literally been flying by, we only realized that the fourth was coming up just a few days before. We love to get in spirit of the holiday so we had to think of some quick and easy things we could do to show our American Pride.
First we made a totally adorable snack that can be used through out the summer. We made our own popsicles using Sprite, and we added raspberries and blueberries to get the patriotic feel, they were a big hit with the crowd. Super refreshing, and pretty cute if we do say so ourselves.
The next thing we did was a bit more time consuming but so worth it. It left quite the impression. We decided to bake a cake. As you can see its not as simple as it could've been but we needed something spectacular for the fourth. We always say, "Go BIG or Go Home" after all this is 'murica right?!
We also got quite a few sparklers that we used to light up the night, we twirled and danced for hours with the people we love, it was quite unforgettable!

If you don't live in the USA, we both feel strongly that you should visit one year to see how spirited and lively this is holiday is celebrated. Everyone is celebrating the same thing, and there is just good vibes all around.

One of our favorite things is going down to the lake because you can see all the fireworks going off all over the skyline, it's truly magnificent.

LUSH Haul

Hey Loves! F & J here!

If you've ever been to LUSH before you know they have the coolest things ever. We recently went and stocked up on all of our favorite products and we decided that it be really fun to share them with you guys.
Of course, the bath bombs are the best. We don't have a favorite because they're all so fantastic. We really like buying them as gifts and people are always happy to get one.
T for Toes is a summer essential. It is perfect to put in your shoes when ever you feel like your feet need a refresher. And keeps them smelling fresh by absorbing sweat and killing the oder.
They also have Stepping Stone foot scrubs that help take off all the dead skin. And you can also use them on elbows and knees. Who doesn't want those soft? Plus it leaves the water a pretty color and smells good!
They have a bunch of face toner sprays. Our two personal favorites are the Tea Tree Water, and the Eau Roma Water. The Tea Tree Water spray helps with keeping skin clear of breakouts, and leaving it smooth. We can't live without it now. You get the better value when you buy the bigger size which is a bit pricey, but it is worth it we can guarantee it. The Eau Roma water helps calm redness in the face, and also helps moisturize without leaving skin oily. We use them daily after washing our faces and our skin thanks us every day for it. A bottle lasts for months even using it daily.
One of their best products ever, like EVER, is their Ocean Salt Scrub. It is ah-mazing and worth the splurge. It can be used all over the body but is meant for hands, or at least that is where we use it. After scrubbing our hands are noticeably softer. Especially when you use lotion after.
The last product that we are going to talk about today is Charity Pot. Though the scent is not our favorite it is filled with things that are beneficial for the skin. We usually put it on while there is time for the scent to disappear. But the skin benefits and the fact that each pot sold helps charities makes it definitely worth it!

LUSH is filled with many many more products, and we always find something new every time we walk into the store. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. There are a lot of scents we don't really like, but there are plenty more we love! Now that you know our top favorites you can go check them out for yourselves! Go on, Google, and find the closest one to you!

Love,

F & J
